My daughter called me last night and told me that she and her hubby could go to New York for less than $600 if they go in March....and stay at a 4 star hotel....that price is for each and includes the flight round trip. I told her that would be fine with me. She said back to me, "That's alright????" I answered yes, and she said she was going to come over and hug and kiss me. She did. Makes a mom feel good when she gets a hug and kiss without asking for it. Why should she hug and kiss me because I said they can go in March? And why would they ask me if they can go then? Because it means 5 days and 5 nights of babysitting for us. I won't mind, as long as they will do like they did last time they went.
New York City was always the dream destination for my daughter. From her first viewing of Splash, where the mermaid took her name from the street sign on Madison Avenue, she said she wanted to go there someday. Then Madonna came along, and my daughter always aspired to be the next Madonna, so she decided SOMEDAY, she would go there. I have never been anywhere, besides New Orleans, where my cousin lives, New Mexico (Carlsbad Caverns once), Houston, and Texarkana....those are the furthest places from home that I have ever been. Because of that, I never believed she would make it to New York. She did on September 6, 2010.
When she landed at the airport and got a taxi, she called me on her cell phone and was telling me about what all she was seeing...you never heard such an excited voice in all your life. I told her to take pictures of the things she was seeing with her cell phone and send them to me....she did, and that started days of texting and receiving pictures. We decided to send them to my email instead because it was easier to put on my blog that way. I documented all their vacation on my blog....and I felt like I was right there with them. They ate at an outdoor burger place (the Shake Shack) that has a live cam on their website. She called me when they were there, and I could actually see everything they were doing and who was there at the restaurant eating at the same time they were. It was so cool!!! +
I can hardly wait for them to go again so I can live vicariously through her. Last time, they went to see Mary Poppins and La Cage Aux Foile on Broadway and sent me pictures as they were entering and leaving the theaters. She had tickets to the Jimmy Fallon show and DIDN'T GO because she was too tired (they had walked all day...can you imagine????). I was upset with her!!! She is trying for David Letterman tickets this time and maybe she will get them. I hope so. I hope Madonna will be there....she does start another tour soon. Or George Strait....that would make my daughter happy. Or Johnny Depp. lol Anyway, the countdown has started and the clock is ticking. 41 days.....it's gonna' be so much fun!!!
Post note.....they don't have tickets for David Letterman that week....awwwww.....but she said she's gonna see if she can get Jimmy Fallon tickets again. She better go. They want to go to see Spiderman on Broadway and Rock of Ages, or Wicked.....I made her a deal....I will only keep the girls if she buys me tickets to see Michael Jackson The Immortal Tour by Cirque Du Soliel. She said she will....and she has to buy herself one......that makes me DOUBLY excited!!!!

I visited NY once when one of my older sisters was living in NJ while her husband was stationed there in the air force. My bucket list includes a trip to England, Scotland, and Ireland. Never happen but I would like it to.
I hope the kids have fun in NY. I am not fond of big cities. My son lives in Chicago and he has to come and see me as I am terrified to drive there. lol
When I was a teenager living in NJ we ALWAYS went to NYC on the train and then the subway on dates. NYC was different then, but I well remember the stage plays, burlesque shows, and country singers in some of the pubs. I can't name all of the famous people we saw LIVE! I hear it has changed now and was lucky to go as a teenager!
I'll never be able to thank you enough for keeping them. I'm so excited!!!! NYC here I come...again!
