First Sign Of Spring?

It's January 31st and here are the first  flowers blooming in my flower bed.  They come up voluntarily each year.  I got them from my mom's yard, and don't know what they are.  Does anyone know?

Those are daffodils and they don't sprout in this part of Illinois until April. beautiful.

I thought they were narcissus and then learned that dozens of varieties of narcissi include daffodils, paperwhites and jonquils. In my area we still call the ones that are like yours narcissus. Ours don't bloom until late April and we consider them to be a symbol of rebirth - thus SPRING!

Yes, they are daffodils and so pretty. Will have some here but hope they don't come too early.
